Yes, it’s a hard job to chose! You have to take in consideration you’ll (probably) never be rich. But you’re your own boss and you can chose your planning, which is great ^^
I guess it also depends where you live, but in most countries, artists don’t have social benefits like unemployement help or stuff like this.

I’d recommend having a bread and butter job in case art jobs don’t pay the bills and having a wide range of different customers to not depend on one who may stop working with you without warning.

Build a network of fellow artists to share jobs, informations and problems, it’s really important to not be alone in this job ^^
In this time of unemployment, it’s always better to struggle working in a field you like than in a field you find boring, so if you love drawing and know your level is good enough to interest customers, go for it!
